The friends and family of Gerald W. Neal in collaboration with the American Lung Association would like to announce their Black Tie Gala fundraiser.
The Gerald W. Memorial Basketball Court Project was created as a means of raising funds for the refurbishing of a local basketball court while memorializing a devoted patron.
Gerald W. Neal a local youth, attended the Rondout Valley School district his entire educational journey. He was a graduate of the new millennium era, class of 2000.
In 2001 in a tragic accident, Gerald's untimely demise caused a dramatic crippling effect on both his former student body and his community. He is best described as a loyal friend, a peacemaker, a champion for those who were defenseless and a voice for those who didn't have the courage to speak.
His unique character and zest for life made everyone he encountered, both young and old, feel like anything was possible, there was no divide between people and that there was a God, who had the last say on everything.
It is to his memory that his former educators, friends, and family wish to dedicate the basketball court with the hopes that his legacy of overcoming challenges (he suffered from severe Asthma), serving one's fellow man, courage and friendship will not be forgotten.
