OVERVIEW:

We will gather 1:11 - 5:55 PM on March 5th 2017 in a garden skills workshop at Heartland near Grass Valley, CA to share skills and ideas for preparing gardens for abundant yields with regenerative, planet friendly techniques. We will listen to music and have fun while we activate these skills and grow food at Heartland so that we can progress the communitys food forest and event space, as well as give participants hands-on experience and time to learn, share ideas and ask questions so that they can proliferate these skillz to their lives and the world.

Its a garden party! Come have fun! Samyol Soulfyre and Friends will be playing some live original garden songs and working with Heartland and Full Circle Garden Solutions to facilitate an entertaining and empowering garden workshop.

Participants will learn the necessary skills to:

1. Create an apartment-friendly worm bin so that they can compost all their biodegradable, organic waste in any household or garden worldwide and transform it into valuable, food-growing fertilizer. Participants will learn to build these bins and teach their friends these skills also. Attendees can purchase a complete worm factory with worms included for a $60 donation (Half the standard price for a worm compost factory with compost tea spout). This project hopes to initiate an exponential wave of waste management and abundance with home-safe worm bins.

2. Prepare a raised container bed or in-ground garden bed to perform at maximum potential with low-cost, regenerative, organic inputs. Utilizing mostly local ingredients we will fertilize and protect the beds with thick organic sheet mulching. After mulching with straw and compost layers, we will introduce edible cover crops & beneficial soil inoculants to create a thriving, weed-resistant, edible environment that increases the soils fertility for favorite summer crops like tomatoes and squash, and also perennials like grapes and figs.
