Transitioning from Peer to Supervisor with Karen Fritz
New supervisors encounter many challenges, especially when promoted from within an organization. New supervisors often find themselves supervising their peers and friends, and navigating awkward boundary and relationship issues:
How do I supervise people who were once my peers and get them to take me seriously?
What boundaries should I set?
How do I gain trust and respect as a leader?
How do I delegate work to my friends?
This training explores the challenges of this change in roles, as new supervisors learn to re-define themselves as leaders. Participants will examine common pitfalls of the new supervisor and the potential minefields of unclear supervisor-supervisee boundaries. Participants will also explore how to maintain professional boundaries and deal with this sensitive area. This training will review key strategies to help new supervisors achieve influence and gain respect and trust.
