1917: Elegant Dining & Entertainments with Francine Segan
Francine Segan has authored Dolci-Italys Sweets and Pasta Modern: New & Inspired Recipes from Italy. As a food historian, she is a regular on the Food Network, PBS, Discovery and the History Channel. Ms. Segan is also the host of Americans Who Love Italy. Join her for an amusing lecture on a time of calling cards, afternoon tea, cotillions, lawn parties, formal dinners...a time when even picnics were served on fine china. Discover the elaborate etiquette, enchanting entertainments and delicious foods enjoyed then. Learn the turn-of-the century meanings of giving a lady a tulip instead a rose; discover the most popular toasts of the 1900s; and when it was proper to remove your gloves or tip your hat. Highlights of the talk include: trivia contest on the uses for dozens of now-obsolete objects from the era and handouts of unique recipes. For more information about Ms. Segan please visit: www.FrancineSegan.com.
Reception to follow featuring Antinori wines. Reservations Required.
Tickets: $40. Tuesday, February 21, 6:30 pm.
