Fully Present, Deeply Connected: The Way of the Mindful Improvisor
Saturday, April 8, 2017, from 10:00 am 4:00 pm
GableStage at the Biltmore
$75 per person for friends and supporters of theatre
$25 each for first 30 drama, speech and debate educators and actors
(with $50 each underwritten by a generous supporter)
This workshop will offer an experiential taste of the creative freedom that comes from combining the traditions of mindfulness and improvisationfor actors, educators and their students. Well create a safe learning lab to introduce exercises that:
* ease stage fright
* sharpen self-awareness
* improve spontaneity
* train playful attention
* develop resilience
* strengthen patience
* improve connection with ourselves and others
* demonstrate healthy collaboration
* increase flexibility and adaptability in the face of uncertainty
And we'll do all that while laughing a lot.
The workshop is designed to include those with little or no prior experience with improvised or scripted theatre and no one will be put on the spot to perform in front of the room. Those with more substantial theatrical chops who are curious about finding deeper levels to their work will also find it fruitful.
6 MPP's are available for teachers within the M-DCPS system. Please also register at the following link to ensure proper credit:
