The Radio Race is an opportunity to dive into sound-based storytelling. Teams and individuals gather at the station over a weekend to produce feature-length radio stories. Prior experience isn't required.
Were looking for human-interest based stories four-minutes in length where the voices and creative use of sound drive the storytelling in the piece. Multiple interviews are welcome, but stories may also include one voice.
You can begin researching and doing interviews prior to the Radio Race, but to optimize team creativity we ask that the majority of the writing and production occur on Feb. 10 and 11. Production and music assistance from radio producers and DJs is available.
We encourage producers to incorporate music from local musicians in their pieces. Radio Boise has an archive for music, and there are websites with music. Music must have permission from the creator and be attributed.
Pieces produced for the Radio Race should include This piece was produced by NAME for Radio Boise.
Event producers will consider pieces produced for the radio race for a special broadcast afterwards considering how the piece incorporates the theme and creative audio techniques
