Looking Back in Power, Moving Forward in Strength: Honoring the 44th Anniversary Roe v. Wade
Join Pro-Choice Resources on January 22, 2017 at the home of Karen and Will Law as we come together to look back in power and move forward in strength in order to protect and advance our Reproductive Freedoms. We will honor the 44th anniversary of Roe v. Wade and legalized abortion in the USA by clearing our energy, creating communal art to send messages of love to abortion care providers, and by discussing how we move to action in the face of imminent threats to reproductive autonomy.
Filsan Ibrahim and Caspian Wirth will lead us through a series of energy clearing and energy movement exercises. These exercises are designed to assist us in letting go of things that may be blocking us from actualizing our collective power, and to prepare us for creating a communal art piece filled with messages of support for abortion care providers in the state of Minnesota.

Donald Thomas will work with us on weaving 5 pieces of string art representing the 5 clinics providing abortion care in Minnesota. We will attach notes to these 5 pieces filled with our messages of hope, thanks, strength, and appreciation for the work that abortion providers do. Once completed, this art piece will travel to participating clinics here in Minnesota where it will remind providers that they are loved and supported.
Lastly, Karen Law and Shayla Walker will discuss with us their visions of the collective actions we can take to preserve and advance our Reproductive Freedoms in 2017 and beyond. They will center on the importance of supporting organizations focused on Reproductive Justice and on supporting abortion care providers, especially independent clinics who provide the majority of abortion care in the United States.
Karen and Will Law's home is located at 4101 S Beard Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55410, and there will be two starting times on Sunday, 1/22/17, for moving through this communal experience. The first round will take place from 1-3pm and the second will take place from 3-5pm. We will send pictures to all participants of the communal art piece as it is finished and as it moves from clinic to clinic.

Filsan Ibrahim in her own words - "I am frogtown resident, activist and community builder. I hold intentional space where I host and facilitate conversation. I work towards creating a healthier versions of all of us." She also MC's "West Bank Open Mic", a bi-weekly, youth-centered open mic for artistic expression, critical conversations and relationship-building.
Caspian Wirth in her own words - "I am a community member who lives that through being a part of the Million Artist Movement and Don't You Feel It Too? using art for our collective liberation. I also offer craniosacral bodywork sessions as a way to undo oppressive conditioning and open to moving from authenticity and oneness."
Donald Thomas in his own words - "I am a graphic designer, a visual artist with Studio Phthalo, and a member of the Million Artist Movement. I want to build powerful art with community that is healing and provides a loving energy."
Karen Law - Karen Law joined PCR in July 2008 as the Executive Director. She has worked in the nonprofit sector in the Twin Cities community of Minnesota for over 25 years. Karen has spent the majority of her career meeting poverty and social justice issues head-on, assisting individuals and families to access the basic resources and services they require and deserve to achieve self-sufficiency.
Shayla Walker - Shayla Walker is Lead Organizer at Trust Project MN and a Blacktina (Black & Dominican) Twin Cities native. She is a rare breed who loves Minneapolis just as much as she does St. Paul. She is a pleasure activist empowering people in the struggle to acknowledge and uplift joy, humor & satisfaction.
