2017 San Jose Mariachi & Folklorico Festival "Tres Grandes Idolos"
Mariachi music and Folklorico dance students will join the Mexican Heritage Corporation at their annual San Jose Mariachi & Folklorico Festival Tres Grandes Idolos from January 13-15, 2017. This years theme is in tribute to three recently passed idols of Mexican music: Juan Gabriel, Pepe Martinez & Joan Sebastian. MHC is proud to announce the return of SJMFF 2017 to the SOAC at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. This event is made possible through the generous support of program grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the City of San Jose. Participants from throughout the Bay Area and Northern California will attend the workshops being offered at the School of Arts & Culture at the Mexican Heritage Plaza. The Tres Grandes Idolos Family Concert will feature the work of student and community Mariachi and Folklorico companies in an evening concert at the Mexican Heritage Plaza Theater on Sunday, January 15 at 3pm. This family-oriented event will serve as the culminating performance of the workshop students and youth performance ensembles and showcase the professional ensemble, Mariachi Azteca, currently in their 35th year of serving the San Jose cultural community.
