Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab Presents BROOKLYN BRIDGE
Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab, a developmental organization founded 17 years ago by the late Director and Choreographer Bick Goss, will present the new musical Brooklyn Bridge at the St. Luke's Theatre on October 24 at 6:30 pm (St. Luke's is at 308 West 46th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues).

With a book and lyrics by Ray Roderick, music by Joseph Baker, associate direction by Joseph Hayward, and musical direction by Laura Bergquist, Brooklyn Bridge is an innovative musical inspired by the extraordinary life of Emily Roebling, wife of Brooklyn Bridge Chief Engineer Washington Roebling. After a debilitating attack of "the bends" while working under the East River, Washington Roebling is rendered bedridden. For the next 11 years, only Emily Roebling is seen on the worksite, delivering plans, handling both engineering and political issues. Some say, as a silent builder . . . "SHE built the bridge!" As the Brooklyn Bridge grows stronger, from foundations to towers, and cables to roadway, so does Emily, skillfully navigating the uncharted waters as a woman in a man's world.

Led by Tony Award-nominee Robert Cuccioli (in 1997 for Jekyll and Hyde), the cast of Brooklyn Bridge also features: Elizabeth Welch, Brian Sutherland, and Erick Devine.

Manhattan Musical Theatre Lab (originally Musical Mondays Theatre Lab) founded by Bick Goss, celebrates 17 years presenting a first look at new musicals. Previous shows include the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning Next to Normal under the title of Feeling Electric, the Lortel and Kleban Award-winning musicals Wanda's World and Calvin Berger as well as work by Amanda Green, Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx.
