Movements in Color
Caitlin+dancers collaborates with painter Amanda Millet-Sorsa to present an evening of dance, paint, and libations: 'Movements in Color', on Monday, November 14 at the Flux Factory in Long Island City, 30 minutes in length, with reception to follow.
Straying from the traditional choreographer/artist collaboration à la Rauschenberg and Cunningham, 'Movements in Color' intertwines Caitlin Dutton and Amanda Millet-Sorsa's sensibilities on color as visual and emotional stimuli. The focus pertains to five colors in particular: white, orange, red, indigo, and black. Each focused hue holds a multitude of historical, social, and emotional contexts including passion, joy, secrecy, youth, and pain, ranging the spectrum of Apollonian to Dionysian thought. 'Movements in Color' layers each shade as accumulating movements in dance and paint, set to an original score, and culminating in an expression of amalgamated artistic disciplines.
