Shotspeare
Shotspeare is equal parts bacchanal and classical theater. Harkening back to the actual time of Shakespeare where audience members (groundlings) were boisterous and partook in the show. Think Drunk History meets The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, hosted by the Gazillionaires English major nephew.
The company Five classically trained actors with years of crowd work, stage combat and improvisational experience.
The staging A 65 minute interactive staging of one of the worlds most beloved plays, featuring a wheel of fortune, real swordplay and stage combat, audience participation, music, dance, cross dressing, magic, improv, puppetry, mask-work and more.
The game One audience member is selected at the top of the show to join the cast and the audience is encouraged to drink along with them as they flub their lines and miss their cues. Shotspeare cards are placed under seats in the theater. Each one gives an audience member the license to yell Shotspeare which forces the actors to pause the play and take a shot. A Wheel of Soliloquy is employed during speeches forcing the actors to deliver their speeches under multiple kinds of duress, including being pelted with socks thrown by the audience, eating saltines or being spanked by audience members.
The audience Shotspeare is for everyone- the workingman, the executive, the bachelorette, the poor student, the scholar, the soccer mom and the barfly.
