Mechanics of Love by Dipika Guha
SIS Productions presents the Northwest Premiere of
Mechanics of Love by Dipika Guha

What do a ballerina with an artificial spine, a highly organized and fashionable wife, a mechanic who wants it all, and a man who forgets everything, all have in common? Love! Set in a mythical European city, this modern-day fairytale is a wonderfully wacky metaphor for love in all its magical, mystical glory. A romantic comedy deconstruction of the four-letter concept, sometimes the only way to understand something is to forget what you know and follow what you feel.

SIS Productions is an Asian American women created theatre company focusing on new works by and about women for all people.

"This new fantasy about love transcending the test of time is both a pleasure to watch and food for thought long after you leave the theater."  - Tiphane, Gasp!

"sly humor and blithe poetry providing some strong justification for Guha's rapid rise as an up-and-coming playwright." - Rob Hurwitt, SF Chronicle

"There's something so odd, so wonderfully odd about Dipika Guha's MECHANICS OF LOVE, . . . a sort of controlled silliness underscored by a decidedly serious exploration of just how the metaphorical gears of the heart do (or do not) turn into roaring engines when connected to the gears of another." - Chad Jones, TheaterDogs

Dipika Guha is the inaugural recipient of the Shakespeare's Sister Playwriting Fellowship with The Lark Playwrights Development Center, A Room of Her Own and Hedgebrook. She is currently under commission from South Coast Rep, Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Playwrights Horizons Theatre School. Her work has been developed at The Atlantic Theatre Company, the Drama League, Playwrights Horizons, Roundabout Underground, Shotgun Players, Leviathan Theatre, The Cherry Lane Theatre, One Coast Collaboration, The Sam French OOB Festival, The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway and the Tobacco Factory (UK) amongst others. Dipika received her BA in English Literature from University College London, was a Frank Knox Fellow at Harvard University and received her MFA in Playwriting at the Yale School of Drama under Paula Vogel. She has taught playwriting at theaters and non-profits across the country and is currently a Visiting Artist at the Schell Center for International Human Rights at Yale Law School.
