Pink Hanky Presents: Xenophobadelica A solo show from DawN Crandell
Not Black enough, Queer enough, sweet enough, sexy enough...all mixed up?
What happens when you find hypocrisy at the heart of your community?
Xenophobadelica is the autobiographical story of DawN Crandells lifelong struggle with identity. As a strong, queer, black multiethnic feminist DawN found herself part of a number of radical minority communities however she never anticipated finding such hypocrisy within.
Xenophobadelica looks at homophobia in certain Black Radical Artistic communities and racism in white queer communities thru the lens for DawNs life long love of Prince. It explores the complex nature of identity, the struggle one goes through to try and fit in, and the ramifications of what happens when you find yourself standing out.
Xenophobadelica fuses poetry, movement, storytelling, burlesque, and audience participation to create a performance which is fun,thought-provoking and guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
Pink Hanky is a queer-femme production team, providing a space and platform for silenced voices and performance. Our space is safe and inclusive for all bodies, abilities, identities, and performance genres. Through performance, we aim to increase visibility and safety within the community.
