Event
Reborning by Zayd Dohrn
DESCRIPTION:
"People invest things with emotional energy. They become symbols of unconscious longings. Of what's missing. We respond to them, as though they're real." Kelly from Reborning
Queens. NY. Today.
Reborning is a dark comedy about loss, healing, the meaning of motherhood and the mystery of creation.
Kelly, a troubled young artist who makes her living creating Reborn Dolls - baby dolls that look like real live babies - finds her world shaken by a particularly obsessive client desperate to recapture a piece of her past. As the parameters between life and art become increasingly blurred, Kelly has to struggle to keep her life from spiraling out of control.
At its core, Reborning is about a young woman trying to define her life on her own terms in the 21st century. In this time when the essence of gender itself is being altered, Reborning is a play about the changing face of femininity and with it, the changing face of motherhood itself.
