Event
Hawthorn Berry Harvest
During this community event, you'll learn to identify hawthorne and harvest it. There will be a breif talk at the beginning about the medicinal uses, characteristics and ideas about where to make, and then you'll be set free in an abundant field of hawthorn. Bring baskets or buckets to harvest berries into, wear sturdy clothing (there's not a "thorn" in hawthorn for nothing), and dress for whatever weather happens.
Hawthorn is an incredible locally abundant medicinal tree thats been used for thousands of years in Europe and other places in the world. It stars in rich folklore everywhere from Ireland to Russia. Nowadays, we consider it the quintessential heart tonic, for strengthening and regulating the heart muscle and strengthening the veins. Its becoming a popular remedy for allergies and other inflammatory conditions as well. The berries are high in bioflavonoids, which are a type of antioxidant. Why spend money on expensive super foods like Goji berries when you have hawthorn in your local park!
