Drivers Manual for the Mind: Harnessing the Power of Your Thoughts
Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, and your actions

become your destiny. - Gandhi

There is a great deal about the mind that we cannot consciously control. However, when it comes to our thoughts, there are

many opportunities to be in the "drivers seat of our own minds. Yet many us have no idea we could even get in the car, let

alone the drivers seat. Instead we remain blind to the power of our thoughts and their enormous effect on what we feel, say,

and do.

It is normal for humans to think distortedly at times; we all do it with some frequency. These kinds of thoughts often lead to

feelings and behavior that increase suffering, and decrease both effectiveness and enjoyment of life. But because it is also

very human to see our own thoughts as true, it is difficult to interrupt the process, unless we learn certain skills.

In addition, a distorted thought, unchecked, tends to engender more distorted thoughts, and this often crowds and distracts

the mind. And in a mind full of distorted thoughts, there is much less openness and space to allow for the clear, unclouded

perception that is one of the hallmarks of mindfulness.

The good news is that we each have significant choice and control about what we think, expect, assume, or believe. Come

to this workshop to learn practical skills that will help you to become more aware of what you are thinking, to assess your

own thoughts as to their accuracy, and to change them if you decide to do so. Many aspects of your life, whether personal

or work-related, can benefit through the use of these skills.
