//TECTONIC MARROW SOCIETY presents _IOTA
4 CHOREOGRAPHERS. 4 NEW WORKS.
August 26th & 27th, 8PM at Velocity Dance Center's Founders Theater (Seattle, WA)
COLEMAN PESTER //CAMEO LETHEM //JODY KUEHNER //JENNA EADY
Coleman Pester, founder and director of //TECTONIC MARROW SOCIETY, debuts IOTA as a collaborative collective of female voices in this bill of fiercely intelligent innovators. They/She highlights both emerging and established choreographers from female, non binary, and queer perspectives; together they set out to challenge themes of identity. www.tectonicmarrowsociety.com
//VISION
IOTA, a small chunk, serves as a platform for these voices. These works are acts of coming out for all four choreographers. For Cameo and Jenna, IOTA represents their first choreographic commission in Seattle. For Jody, this will be a rare opportunity to see this established choreographer present work without the persona of Cherdonna. For Coleman, this project is a statement of //TMS's values and identity within the Seattle dance community.
//ACCESSIBILITY
Velocity Dance Center's Founders Theater is ADA accessible. The entrance to the theater space has a ramp from the sidewalk outside. The theater space has tiered bleacher style seating with chairs forming rows. There are floor level seats and space for wheelchairs. Please email colemanmpester@gmail.com if those seats need to be reserved for you. We also invite you to communicate with the ushers at the performance and they can assist you. There are gendered men/women multi-occupant bathrooms in the lobby and they require a code (1289). We plan on putting up Gender Neutral signs over the doors on the night of the performance. This will be done guerilla-style, so there is a chance that they are removed by other businesses sharing the lobby space. The theater space is not necessarily scent-free, but scents will not intentionally be used in the performance. Please refrain from wearing scented products, so that audience members with a sensitivity are able to enjoy the performance. Strobe lights will be used in the performance. The sound design for some pieces will include loud or jolting sounds. Please bring earplugs if these sounds might be uncomfortable for you. If you have questions about accessibility that are not covered in the above information, feel free to contact Coleman at colemanmpester@gmail.com.
