BSWC Writing Workshop with PW Covington
Mindfulness & Writing.....Mind Full vs. Mindful
Join the B Street Writers Collective with Beat poet PW Covington in a writing workshop which combines elements of mindfulness mediation, Zen writing, guided imagery, and sensory awareness. Bring your favorite writing utensil and paper/journal. Sharing and active participation is encouraged, but voluntary; no one will be compelled to speak or share, should they not feel comfortable doing so. Workshop open to all. If you text, youre a writer.
PW Covington's writing is raw, powerful, and carries the voice of his hard-lived curriculum vitae. His poetry and prose is undeniably of Beat lineage, and his words have the power to carry the full weight of desperate, yet hopeful experience. Incarceration, Poverty, War, Heartbreak, Homelessness, Isolation; these are the roots of Covington's work, but his voice is neither bitter nor caustic. It is, in his own way, hopeful.
PW Covington's latest collection of poetry, "Sacred Wounds", published by Slough Press, has been collecting praise and wowing audiences across the country, and he is excited to be bringing his poetry and provocative workshop to Hayward and the East Bay community. Check out PW's website at www.pwcovington.com.
