Every home, regardless of its size and location, must reduce its carbon footprint, reduce and redirect its waste stream, and contribute to carbon sequestration and food independence in the coming millennium.
Learn how to regenerate your home ecology -- produce more, waste less -- in Gary Rosenberg's permaculture wonderland/laboratory.
Gary has spent 20 years converting his home into an urban farm focusing on and achieving these goals, mostly through simple, DIY techniques anyone can do. Spend an hour, two or three exploring the transformation of his home, and learning how you can do the same. Gary has constructed an extraordinary rooftop container farm, with a greenhouse, composting toilet and water catchment system to feed his ground level garden. All the soil he uses in this vast container farm, he creates from composting food waste and other organic matter he generates right at home.
You'll also see his simple solar power setups, and other innovative projects using mostly found materials.
Gary Rosenberg has made a living working at everything from the theater to shoeing horses, from construction to finance. He has a passion for redirecting the waste stream into productive use and demonstrating how people might learn to live in a less energy-intensive way and more in tune with other life around us. When he's not hanging out on the farm with his dogs, he may be found playing music at the farmers market or feeding food scraps to the seagulls down by the Bay.
