Event
Mardi Gras at St. John's to Celebrate Housing Hope
In 1987, Snohomish County emergency shelter providers served 2,649 individuals and turned away another 3,670 for a total of 6,319 homeless people. In Snohomish County, the churches recognized both the size of the problem and the inability of churches to address the problem alone. A task force proposed formation of a nonprofit agency with the expertise to leverage community resources for real housing solutions. The Housing Hope organization was established. On October 30, 2015, the Monroe Family Village was opened with 47 apartments for low income families. In addition to housing, adults and their children receive guidance and other supportive services on site.
The Outreach Committee of St. John's Episcopal Church has pledged $10,000 to assist in the work of Housing Hope (http://www.housinghope.org/) .
On Saturday, February 6, 2016, 6:00 pm at St. John's Episcopal Church, 913 2nd Street, Snohomish, WA, the Outreach Committee (Tom Schelfhout, President) is sponsoring a Mardi Gras celebration and fundraiser in support of the work of Housing Hope. The event is catered by Java Haus providing Cajun gumbo with salad. Beer and wine will be available. The ticket price is $25.00.
