Case Conceptualization of PTSD
Dr. Kevin Arnold (psychologist) will cover the behavioral conceptualization of PTSD, including one-trial learning, role of emotional dysregulation, role of intrusive thoughts, function of avoidance/escape, and negative rewards that sustain emotional and behavioral avoidance. The Unifying Theory from Barlow will be used as a primary framework.
Narrative Story Telling-based Exposure Therapy for PTSD
Dr. Kevin Arnold (psychologist) will review the use of exposure therapy and its use in narrative story telling as an intervention for PTSD. Included will be the application of NST as an application to various types of traumatizing events, the role of the narrative in overcoming negative rewards (avoidance/escape), use of extinction in NST, and role of cognitive processing in rewritten narratives.
