Scholastic Art & Writing Awards - Hillsborough Region
The annual Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the nation's longest running, most prestigious scholarship and recognition initiative for students in grades 7-12, is open for submissions and invites all aspiring teen artists and writers to share their work.
Hillsborough County Public Schools is a Regional Affiliate of these awards and is proud to offer this opportunity to public, private, charter, virtual and home schooled students in our county. We are also grateful to Suncoast Credit Union for being the founding presenting sponsor, and the Hillsborough Education Foundation for their support.
Entry fees are $5.00 per work, and $20.00 per senior portfolio. However if entry fees are a financial hardship, a fee waiver can be printed and completed through the registration process and mailed with the submission form(s).
Deadline for the Hillsborough County region is January 11, 2015 @ 11:59pm. Award winning students will be notified during the week of January 19 with the award reception scheduled at Blake High School on Thursday, February 19 @ 7:00pm.
Students can submit creative works in 28 categories, ranging from comic art to photography, flash fiction to poetry, video game design to novel-writing and more. All works are digitally evaluated first on the regional level through a blind judging process based on originality, technical skill and the emergence of a personal vision or voice--the same three criteria since the program's founding in 1923.
