SPARK Dance Forum 2015
SPARK is a performance development forum for emerging artists aimed at creating new networking opportunities between creators, artists, and audience members. The 3rd Annual SPARK Dance Forum will be presented at the Actor's Fund Arts Center in Brooklyn, NY for the 2nd year in a row. With a professional venue, production staff, and network of culturally forward art lovers, SPARK helps provide additional footing in the NYC art scene.
On the night of the shows, audience members open their programs to find contact information for participants, both on and off stage, showcasing all the talent that went into this series. Audiences can expect to see a wide range of movement based performance works, both literal and fantastical, from artists who are working and performing in NYC.
This year SPARK is excited to announce the first ever company work, choreographed by SPARK Alum Kristen Carcone, Artistic Director of TOES for Dance (www.toesfordance.ca). This work allows our artists to connect in rehearsal and on stage, enabling our network to form deeper bonds.
Following each performance there is an open forum meet and greet between artists, designers, crew and audience members. These post show encounters facilitate the potential to spark up new conversations about what we saw, what we performed and new ideas for future work. By providing contact information in the program, artists and audience can access one another quickly and easily, leaving the performance with more than just a memory. As collaborations form and are brought to fruition, a cycle begins of communication, development, and performance. The relationships built through SPARK will help drive future endeavors to success.
