CONVERSATIONS WITH MY MOLESTER : A JOURNEY OF FAITH
As Pope Francis begins his historic visit to NYC, Michael Mack opens his prize-winning solo play for a 4-week run at the Bridge Theatre in NYC's Columbus Circle.
Like many Catholic boys in the 1960s, Michael Mack wanted to be a priest. That dream ended at age 11 when his pastor invited him to the rectory to help make "a costume."
In the decades that followed, Mack wrestled with haunting questions about sexuality and spirituality, and imagined one day meeting his abuser for a conversation.
In 2008 he had that chance -- landing on his former pastor's doorstep.
Conversations with My Molester: A Journey of Faith is Mack's spiritual autobiography, chronicling the events that took him full circle away from -- and back to -- the Roman Catholic Church.
Directed by Boston stage veteran Daniel Gidron, Mack's lyric monologue premiered at the 10-year anniversary of Boston's clergy sexual abuse crisis.
It has been hailed by Catholics and non-Catholics alike for its depth, complexity and nuance, asking "What is the cost of forgiveness?" ____________________________________
