How to Avoid Failing: The Science of Goal Setting and Meeting San Francisco
Hello dear Positive Psychology Change Agents!
I would love to invite you to join myself and the wonderful Carin Rockind, (www.carinrockind.com) for an inspiring workshop on what we all want to know: How to Avoid Failing: The Science of Setting & Meeting Goals
Research shows that 80% of goals that are set are not met. Why? Because people confuse goal meeting with goal setting.
People set goals that they don't meet and judge themselves as lacking in motivation, willpower or follow through when that's simply not the case.
What they miss is that the goal that they set was faulty and that their process was half baked.
Join us as we explore what research in positive psychology and neuroscience identifies as the most effective processes for meeting your goals and following through on your resolutions. Go beyond the outdated SMART Goals, debunk myths people subscribe to about goals and experience what sets positive psychology apart from pop psychology: scientifically proven tools.
If you've ever set a wellness goal for yourself (i.e. lose weight, drink more water, exercise every day, meditate twice a day, etc) and not only did you not meet your goal, but you gave up on goal setting altogether. You must join us! You'll learn that it wasn't you, it was the goal. And you'll learn what to do about it.
This workshop is great for anyone that believes in the saying, "Better to teach a man to fish then give a man a fish." If you'd rather learn the science of peak performance and goal meeting so you can do this for yourself and not need the support of an expert, Meetup with us!
This workshop is also ideal for anyone in a position of helping others succeed and maximize their potential, such as:
- Managers that want to get their team results faster and more efficiently, leveraging the research on best practices rather than the "same 'ol practices."
- Coaches that use short-term and long-term goal setting in every session and want to guarantee that you're using your time and your client's time most efficiently.
- Therapists and clinicians that support their patients in creating realities for themselves that go beyond just fixing what's wrong in their life.
- Guidance counselors and teachers who constantly see their students and mentees self-sabotaging themselves from achieving their potential through unattainable goals or uncommitted lifeless goals.
I am so excited about this workshop and I hope you'll join Carin, me, and many other curious folks on August 30th at 7pm! Reserve your spot!
PS. Everything you'll learn in this workshop is just a fraction of the proven and powerful tools that we offer our students who do our 6 month Certificate in Applied Positive Psychology. We'll give you more information about it at the Meetup if it is of interest to you.
