Women of Improv

The 2nd annual Women of Improv show brings Atlanta's best female improvisers together for one evening to showcase the incredible talents of over 30 performers. Improvisers from Dad's Garage Theatre, Whole World Theatre, Village Theatre, Laughing Matters, The Basement Theatre, Highwire Comedy and local troupes, Brickhouse Improv, Botox and Bangs and Drive-By Broadway will join together at The Village Theatre on October 18th starting at 6pm. This year's proceeds will be donated to Earlier.org, "the nation's only breast cancer charity focused exclusively on supporting research for new discoveries of an innovative biological test to detect breast cancer earlier."

The Atlanta improv scene has seen massive growth over the last few years with new theatres and independent troupes emerging all over the city. With this growth, women in the improv community are more abundant than ever. Not only in Atlanta have we seen women in comedy making strides, but the success of nationally known funny women like Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Amy Schumer have certainly been an inspiration for women climbing the comedy ladder. The Women of Improv show was created to celebrate the roster of female improviser's right here in Atlanta putting them together on stage for one night highlighting their incredible talents.

Last year's event held at the Westside Cultural Arts Center was a huge success bringing out over 200 people. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Women of Improv jumped on the opportunity to tie into the cause. Representatives from Earlier.org will be in attendance at the event and will speak on their organizations behalf.

The event begins at 6pm featuring local female improv troupes and starting at 7pm, a two hour short-form improv showcase featuring all of the actors performing together.
