Boulder Library Foundation: Turning Ideas into Reality
The Boulder Library Foundation cordially invites you to attend a lively evening exploring how the Maker movement is transforming the role of public libraries and how the Boulder Public Library is taking the Boulder Maker movement to the next level.
The evening will start with cocktails and a sampling of farm-to-table fare, a special fall harvest menu has been crafted by the Boulder Farmers Market's Seeds Cafe. During the cocktail hour, guests will be invited to explore the new Makerspace. There will be live demos of the various Maker stations, an engaging exhibit highlighting the types of projects that the space will support, and some special Makerspace giveaways for our guests.
The cocktail hour will be followed by a high-energy talk by Mark Frauenfelder, a Boulder native and the founding editor-in-chief of MAKE magazine. After the talk, Mark will sit down with Library Director David Farnan to answer questions and share perspectives with our guests.
Mark Frauenfelder is the founding editor-in-chief of MAKE magazine, and the founder of Boing Boing. His latest book is Made By Hand: My Adventures in the World of Do It Yourself.
David Farnan is the Director of Library and Arts for the City of Boulder. Before coming to Boulder in 2014, David served as the associate director of community services with the Douglas County Libraries. He has more than 18 years of library experience.
The Boulder Library Foundation strategically invests in innovative programming and partnerships that enrich the Boulder Public Library and our community.
