God's Man In Texas
The play that rocketed from the Humana Festival to stages all across the country, directed for the first time by its playwright, David Rambo, who went on to write and produce the TV hits CSI, REVOLUTION and EMPIRE.
Praised for its humor and humanity, the play depicts the journey of a preacher rising in Southern Baptist circles (BRIAN LETSCHER, Secret Service Agent Tom on SCANDAL) who impresses the aging pastor of a legendary Houston megachurch (TED HEYCK of CRIMINAL MINDS, MEN AT WORK). The older pastor's aide-de-camp is a reformed alcoholic, military vet and true believer (TOM COSTELLO of ELEMENTARY, GREY'S ANATOMY), who works behind the scenes for both men a tricky triangle of ambition, faith, and survival.
Although set in the vast labyrinth of the megachurch, this production brings the audience close, closely sharing the chambers of power and transformation with the play's three characters.
"A wealth of both drama and comedy in the struggle for power." - Los Angeles Times
"The first act is so funny; it deepens in the second act into a sobering portrait of fear, hope and self-delusion." - The Columbus Dispatch
"The pick of the litter of all the works at the Humana Festival" - Providence Journal
