Sandra Valls is a brash, high energy, smart, outrageously funny, Latina comic and singer and then some! Voted by Latina Magazine as one of the Top 33 Bad Ass Comics, Sandra performs to standing room only, sold out comedy shows all over the country. She'll make you laugh till your face hurts with her frank, no holds barred comedic genius! Comes as no surprise that she was voted one of Curve Magazine's Top 10 funniest lesbian comics and Top 10 faces to watch in 2010 by Diva Magazine.
Opening for Sandra is Sam Jay- a big hit at our Women in Comedy LGBT Showcase. Hailing from Boston Sam Jay is setting her own stage. Some would say the fact that she's female, African American, and a lesbian has allowed her to stand out in a male dominated industry. But it is more so how she can take these experiences and make them not only funny but relatable. Witty, candid, and raw she is bringing about a brand of comedy that has yet to be seen.
Following the show (and included in your tix) is our August Annual White Party at Second Saturday with DJ LeahV aka 'The People's DJ'. Her signature open format mixing and seamless genre-blending sets have won her the Boston Music Awards "DJ Artist of the Year," Improper Bostonian's "Boston's Best DJ" and a feature at the 2015 Dinah Shore Weekend.
Why a? What's a? White Party: the concept of the White Party was created in 1985 as a party to raise funds for HIV/AIDS in a non-political and non-combative way. From the beginning, the committee wanted the party to symbolize community solidarity. White was chosen for this reason as well as for its purity and elegance. Dyke Night's White Party this year will benefit HOCC: Healing our Community Collaborative. HOCC has been serving over 2,000 women in MA infected or affected by HIV.
