August 15, 2015. Get on board for this trip back in time! Seating is limited on this luxury tour but the fun is limitless. Tour starts at 9:30 a.m. at the Lakewood Playhouse in Lakewood where you'll be greeted by the publisher of the first Territorial Newspaper.  Together, you'll get on the luxury bus (there's a bathroom on board) and begin a day of unique fun.  Re enactors on the bus and off will bring the important history of this area to life.

We'll start with Lakewood in 1937, for a half hour tour of the historic spots in the newest city on our tour, Did you know that Lakewood is the site of the first shopping mall west of the Mississippi.  Docents from the Lakewood Museum will ride with us to point out fascinating points of interest.

Next stop, Old Fort Steilacoom in 1858, the site of the first Army installation. We'll visit Col Casey's quarters, meet the soldiers and ladies of the day.

We'll visit DuPont in 1833, the year the first Hudson Bay Colony on Puget Sound was established on Puget Sound. We'll  visit the DuPont Museum, and learn from local historian Drew Crooks about the history of the area.

After a Gourmet History Themed lunch, still in DuPont,  we'll enjoy performance by Special Guest Artist,Tony Saletan, famed music historian. Tony will share reflections on the Music of Washington.  Tony is a pioneer TV star from WGBH in Boston, and is the man to we have to thank for discovering the songs  Kumbayah and Michael, Row The Boat Ashore. Then, he taught them to Pete Seeger,  And  that's just the beginning.

Next stop, Steilacoom in 1854 where we'll visit the first incorporated city in the state

Finally we'll visit the Steilacoom Tribal Museum where it all began in the "days before the before" where you'll top off the day with exhibits and stories from Tribal members.

All day there'll be Prizes and Surprises.  Re-enactors on and off the bus.  Lots of fun and a chance to know Washington State History that you've never had before.

Tour Guide: Dorothy Wilhelm, Host, My Home Town on Comcast TV.
