A Children's Matinee Performance of "Jump, Frog, Jump!" and "One"
"Jump, Frog, Jump!" is a program based on the children's book by Robert Kalan about a frog who encounters a fly, fish, snake, turtle plus a group of kids in his struggle to survive. The professional dancers from LDT perform the story book with enchanting music, narration and colorful costumes. During the performance, the audience is encouraged to assist the frog in his escape from being caught by shouting on cue, "Jump, frog, jump!" Information regarding the importance of regular physical activity (like dancing), developing strong muscles and healthy eating are also shared with the audience.
Kathryn Otoshi's "One" is a new addition to LDT's selection of children's works, featuring a performance by the LDT professional company. One by Kathryn Otoshi tells the story of friendship, bullying, inclusion and self-esteem through the abstract use of colors and numbers. The performance will also engage children in discussion and encourage movement exercises, conveying that through the small act of standing up for oneself and others, the power of one can make a big difference.
