The Scarlet "S" Project Presents: I Am the Rat
The Scarlet 'S' Project is about the intersections of rape, hyper masculinity, cyberbullying, and shame when it comes to groupthink sexual assaults like Steubenville, Maryville, Nova Scotia, and others.
It's about how we brand young women with SHAME -- for being sexual, for "transgressing," for presuming their bodies and choices will be respected and safe.
It is about "slut". It is about rape. It is about alcohol. It is about suicide. It is about "shouldn't."
Conceived in 2014 by Alyssa Vera Ramos, Director, and Cathy Muskett, Head Writer, The Scarlet 'S' Project encompasses devised playmaking, youth workshops, creative community conversations (based in civic practice methods), and social media campaigns about the issues of consent, hyper masculinity, "slut"-shaming, cyberbullying and sexual assault.
