Claim 52 Brewing Beer Pairing Dinner at Cornbread Cafe
Sunday, April 26th 5:30 PM Cornbread Cafe 1290 W 7th, Eugene 541.505.9175
Established in 2012, Claim 52 specializes in small-batch European style ales such as Kolsch, brewed with a Northwest flair, as well as more familiar beers like pale ales, reds, wheats, and of course, IPAs. Hand crafted, each batch turns out a little different but is consistently tasty and delivered to you fresh from the tank to the tap. At Cornbread Cafe, we are proud to offer the best in vegan comfort food, and generally feature at least one of Claim 52's beers on tap. Like Claim 52, we are small, but we believe in the ideals of attention to detail and being a positive presence in the community. For this pairing dinner, Claim 52 assistant brewer Joe Buppert and Cornbread Cafe employees Eric Devin and Becky Waterman have put their heads together to create a delicious springtime menu that places a special emphasis on local foods.
Course One:
Abbey Ale & Strawberry-Mint Glazed Asparagus
Abbey Ale is a sweet, malt-forward Belgian-style ale, with bright, grassy notes. Combined with the flavors of an Oregon spring, this pairing should present a lovely contrast between bright, herbal flavors and a subtly rich sweetness.
Course Two:
Waltz of the Flowers & Cream Cheese Porcini Tarts with Truffle Salt
With a dry, floral character, and generous additions of chamomile, Waltz of the Flowers is the perfect springtime brew, and its delicate character will go well with the rich, earthy flavors of one of of Becky's cream "cheese" and porcini tarts.
Course Three:
Admiral of the Red & Chimichurri Portabello Caps, Glazed Baby Carrots.
Admiral of the Red is a big, bold red ale in the finest Pacific Northwest tradition, and its aggressiveness will be challenged by dry, spicy mushrooms, while carrots bridge the cap, a slightly sweet glaze bringing harmony to the group.
Course Four:
Black Kitul Stout with Chocolate Bourbon Cake and Vanilla Icing
One of Claim 52's biggest ever beers, this rich, black stout is brewed with palm sugar, and its sticky goodness will be well-complimented by an equally robust Bourbon cake.
$40 includes all food, 8 (5 for Kitul) oz of each beer and gratuity for the kitchen staff.
