Friday, August 14 5:00pm - Sunday, August 16 12:00pm On the Jewish path, the month of Elul the month that leads up to Rosh Hashanah is the time for what Jewish tradition calls Teshuvah: turning and returning toward love, hope and possibility. It is the time for careful self-review, for making amends, for seeking reconciliation, and for renewing our relationships. In preparing for the Jewish New Year we do everything in our power to return to the path of love, so that we might enter the year approaching the world with open hearts and open arms.
Our workshop falls on Rosh Hodesh, the New Moon of Elul, the perfect moment to begin. During this intensive, we lovingly assist each other to fulfill the mitzvah of Teshuvah, the act of turning. We will:
create a holy space of confidentiality and care; study Jewish wisdom together; listen to one another with compassion; write and reflect, and plan concrete steps for moving forward in our lives; enact a bet din, a traditional ritual of witnessing and forgiveness; celebrate with song and joy! We will allow thoughts and emotions to flow and hearts to open, creating a space for the unexpected within and around us, and preparing ourselves for a truly new year.
Details: This weekend workshop meets at the Woodstock Jewish Congregation and begins with registration late Friday afternoon, continues all day Saturday and concludes at 12:00 pm on Sunday. There are modest additional fees for meals. The delicious catered meal plan includes Friday dinner, Saturday lunch and dinner, and Sunday lunch. Special dietary needs can be accommodated.
