Great Southwest Radio Theatre Veteran's Benefit Performance
From the great American novelist, Mark Twain, comes what is considered by many his best and most endearing story, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The Great Southwest Radio Theatre Project (GSR) presents the radio adaptation by Orson Welles, Huckleberry Finn. This production first aired over the Columbia Broadcasting System on March 17, 1940 as part of the Campbell Playhouse dramatic radio series. This will be followed by a story inspired by a factual account which developed into an Arizona legend, The Red Ghost is an original radio play of the Great Southwest Radio Theatre Project written by Bill Alewyn. It's main character is a young child whose family is visited by a strange creature in the middle of the night that continues to be sighted by many farmers and ranchers in the late 19th century Arizona Territory. Is it an apparition or something real? The local sheriff, assisted by the child, eventually discovers who or what the Red Ghost really is.
