Begochiddy- a one-woman musical puppet show
Begochiddy, the one-woman puppet musical, has come a long way, from being an idea, to a handful of couple songs, to a loose story to a full-on musical puppet adventure, with a 6-person cast! 6 actors for the price of 1! What a steal!
In November 2014, Charlotte Moroz began an Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to produce this show. The amazing people around her stepped up to help raise $1,000 over her funding goal. Wow! Charlotte is so excited to bring this puppet musical dream to life, especially when such beautiful support was shown to her.
Now, to her great joy, Begochiddy, the one-woman musical puppet show, opens on May 7th at UNDER St. Marks Theater, enjoying a limited run through May 16th.
In what may very well be the only one-woman puppet musical in New York, writer, performer and UCB-alum Charlotte Moroz has woven her life's story as a twin and a queer woman into this fantastical tale of Begochiddy, a feisty child-God who must save everyone and create a new world. In honor of how children create, Moroz set out to create something all her own, from musical score to homemade puppets. The result is a music- and adventure-filled creation story, which draws from Moroz's own stories and from Native American mythology. Moroz adeptly switches from Begochiddy to varied puppet personalities, portraying her struggle at coming to terms with her twin sister and ultimately battling and subduing an enemy who is not what he seems.
With an underlying message of self-love and courageous creation, the production appeals to teen, adult, LGBT-inclusive audiences and humans alike. Begochiddy is created and performed by Charlotte Moroz, with musical production by Jacob Slichter and musical accompaniment by David Moss.
Begochiddy runs Thurs.-Sat., May 7-16 at 7:30pm at UNDER St. Marks Theater, 94 St. Marks Place between Ave. A and 1st Ave., New York City. Tickets available at Brown Paper Tickets here. Information, a behind-the-scenes look and music can be seen/heard at begochiddy.com.

ABOUT CHARLOTTE MOROZ (Playwright, Begochiddy) Charlotte Moroz is thrilled to bring this original work to the stage, after workshopping and developing it over the course of the past two years. Charlotte came upon this Navajo/Dine creation story while parsing open a beautiful old book at the public library, and became inspired by the heart, the verve, and the bravery of the child-god-creator at the center of this story. Charlotte has woven her life's story into this ancient cosmology, through song and puppetry, through personal and universal stories. Charlotte has received training at the Upright Citizen's Brigade, as well as at The Studio/New York. The Panel of Puppets
