SAKE/WINE: Bottle Design Contest
Benefit Auction Luncheon - April 30, 2015
SAKE/WINE Bottle Design Contest
A New Kind of Bottle: If you are Paloma Piccaso or Dale Chihuly, what would the design of a wine or sake bottle be? That is the challenge for all artists: to make a very simple, common bottle be the object d'art.
THE CHALLENGE: Decorate a sake or wine bottle, or design a bottle itself. The bottle must be an element of design (more than a label graphic). You may cut, break, or glue together, or create your own bottle, but it must have a neck and a mouth. It is not necessary to contain any liquid when delivered. Bottles will be auctioned off during our celebratory luncheon, with 50% of the proceeds will go to the artist, and the rest will help fund our yearly Cherry Blossom Festival.
Contestant registration fee is $25.00, and includes a seat at our celebratory luncheon.
THE LUNCHEON AND AUCTION: Sake and wine design entries will be up for silent auction during the luncheon. Other auction items include jewelry donated by Ben Bridge, as well as the work of local artists. Luncheon fare will be provided by Hiroshi's Catering.
The luncheon and auction will be held on: April 30, 2015, 11:30am-2:30pm, at the Seattle Center Pavilion.
Luncheon and auction tickets may be purchased separately without entering our contest for $50.00. Tickets will also be available at the Cherry Blossom Festival's gift shop, beginning on April 24th, located in Fisher Pavilion.
CONTEST GUIDELINES Any hazardous, sharp or easily breakable materials are prohibited. (SCBJCFC will not responsible for any damage or loss. Artist may secure own insurance).
Rights of Artist: Artist will agree to donate 50% of auctioned price to SCBJCFC. Artwork will remain property of the artist until auctioned off. Ownership of the purchased art may be transferable. Any copyrights, patents or other proprietary rights remain as artist's property. Any commercial application of the use of purchased art must be negotiated with artist.
