In this powerful one-woman show, Heather Raffo has created a portrait of the extraordinary (and ordinary) lives of a whole cross-section of Iraqi women:a sexy painter, a radical Communist, doctors, exiles, wives and lovers. This work delves into the many conflicting aspects of what it means to be a woman in the age-old war zone that is Iraq. An unusually timely meditation on the ancient, the modern and the feminine in a country overshadowed by war.

Sara Heifetz, currently costarring in 5th Wall's The Human Terrain, returns to inhabit the lives of each of these nine women (a feat she first tackled to immense acclaim in 2010 at the Firehouse Theatre Project).  Heifetz most recently appeared as the emotionally-wrecked, alcoholic daughter in Nicky Silver's The Lyons. STYLE Weekly's David Timberline wrote of her performance, "Perhaps the most welcome aspect of the production is the return of Heifetz to a major role. Her character's struggle with the torrent of emotions provoked by these family situations becomes a mirror of the audience's experience, and Heifetz skillfully navigates the bumpy terrain."

Award-winning director Billy Christopher Maupin returns to the helm of this collaboration with Heifetz, once again with the stunning sound design of Carlos Collazo (The Lyons, Dog Sees God, Becky's New Car).

If you missed this breathtaking performance in 2010, don't pass on another opportunity!  And if you saw it then, we know you'll be back!

See you at the theatre!
