Evolving Doors Dance - Relative Weight & Tiny Surrenders
Relative Weight & Tiny Surrenders is a seemless 40-minute dance work presented by Evolving Doors Dance, under the direction of Angie Simmons and Amy Shelley. This performance will include a post-show discussion with the cast and creators, as well as a reception.
Relative Weight & Tiny Surrenders examines how the many manifestations of struggle present within us and in the world, as well as how these shape one's identity. Everyone experiences adversity in life, whether large or small. How we meet conflict defines us and molds our empathetic understanding of the world. Struggle connects, strengthens and fortifies our resolve--breaking us down, building us up, enslaving us or setting us free. Moving into and out of these moments, sometimes with grace and sometimes with a stumble, struggle becomes a metaphor for physical exploration. This dance work explores internal conflict on the smallest scale, to odds set against each other on the global front. The victory may not be important, but the way we meet the challenge exposes how truly human we are.
