Tales of Transformation
Transformation is the theme of Misako Ballet's new one-act ballet The Grateful Crane. The crane, an elegant and beautiful bird, is considered to be auspicious in Japan. This ballet retells the story of one such revered bird who, when rescued from a trap by an old childless couple, repays their kindness in a magical way. The poignant performance -- hosted by Columbia's Jim Rouse Theatre -- should appeal to ballet fans both young and old. Following the intermission, the dancers will leap into excerpts from Don Quixote and as always, Misako Ballet will invite other choreographers from the area to share the stage.
