2015 World Series of Trivia
What the hell is the World Series of Trivia?
Glad you asked! The WSOT is a new, (soon to be) annual event, pitting thinkers and drinkers from various pubs in the Greater New Haven area (and beyond).
Where is the WSOT being held?
The WSOT will be held at The Russian Lady 144 Temple Street- New haven, CT. It's located across from the Omni Hotel.
How much cash is on the line?
First place takes home Over $1,000 in Cash & Prizes (guaranteed $500 cash). More details to follow.
Where do I buy tickets and how much are they?
Tickets are just $50 for teams of 6 (pretty cheap, huh?). Tickets will be available online starting December 16th, and at any Big Boy Trivia Night or Digital Tracks trivia night starting January 5th. Get your tickets on-line by January 1st and get a free WSOT T-shirt.
Day-Of Admission is $75 per team. Online/Mail-in ticket sales will close at 11:59 PM on February 13, 2015. After that, you're paying $75 at the door.
Do we have to buy six tickets?
Tickets are $50 for a team of 6. Think you and your buddy could dominate? Great, that's just $50 ($25 X 2 = $50, the same as if you had 6). If you haven't arranged a full team but you know you're going to play, then what are you waiting for? Avengers, assemble!
Honestly, if you need help finding a team, no worries. Check out our Facebook Group to meet up with other competitors.
How does the seating work?
Seating is on a first come, first served basis. Get there early for the best seats! The Russian Lady has several rooms and we will be using ALL of them (We're expecting at least 60-75 teams). Doors will open at Noon for a 2 PM start.
Will there be food and drink specials?
We'll have a ton of food and drink specials. More on that as we get closer.
Is it true that WSOT staff monitor the floor and disqualify anyone caught using their Phones?
For $1K, you know it! We're not taking any chances just because your BFF is drunk at 3:30 on a Sunday Afternoon. You use it, you get a 0 for the round. You give us any lip, your ENTIRE TEAM is out the WSOT.
Your best bet is to leave your phones in the car. Also, if you leave your table in the middle of a round to use the bathroom, make a call or smoke out front, you won't be allowed back in until the answer sheets have been collected for that round. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time in-between rounds to use the restroom, grab a beer, or make a call.
Also, plan on keeping your table pretty empty. Anything that wasn't given to you by WSOT Staff (answer booklets, pens, scrap paper, etc) or that you didn't buy (beer and food) must be put away while the game is in play.
How long is the game?
Doors open at NOON. Round 1 starts at 2 PM. We're going to try to announce the winners three hours after we start. If we run over, oh well. That's what happens when you have 50+ teams playing.
Will there be quizmasters and teams from other companies and bars?
Yup. Big Boy Trivia will be represented by Quizmasters Craig, Alley and Smitty. Digital Tracks will be represented by Anthony. Plus we're expecting some other Quizmasters will be joining us as we get closer.
Will there be other prizes/raffles?
Oh you know it! We will have a TON of raffles that we will be holding throughout the afternoon. And if that's not cool enough, ALL PROCEEDS from raffle tickets sold will go to 3 great local charities: Ballet Haven and Habitat For Humanity of Hamden and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
