EXODUS 2019- N.Davina Stewart
EXODUS 2019- In the summer of 1619, a Dutch ship stole the cargo of a Spanish ship and landed in Virginia. That cargo of 20 Africans was traded for food creating another chapter in the New World nightmare. In Exodus 2019, N. Davina Stewart constructs a "ship" and tracks the perilous African American journey from insurrections to police brutality. Come along for the ride through the treacherous waters of the current state of affairs to ponder what the next 400 years hold- shipwreck or safe harbor?
My goal is to raise $750 in funds to meet my current budget of $1250 for this piece. I need 75 people to donate $10.00. All donors will be thanked in the show program for the Rhino Fest at the end of January 2015, which will be the premiere of the piece in its current form.
These funds will help pay my Director, Stage Manager, Musical Accompanist, Graphic Designer and Front of House Attendant a $15.00 artist living wage. Their expertise is invaluable and integral to the success of this piece.
This piece utilizes projections and is designed to be portable. The budget will include the cost of the projector and the portable trunks.
