The Love Story
There is a love story in all of us -- some tales darker than others.
The Love Story masquerade is a formal, ticketed event featuring a mingling gourmet meal designed by Hudson Valley chef Ric Orlando and prepared by New World Catering, enjoyed while a raucous show of roaming burlesque performers whet guests' appetite for romance and dessert.
Performers include: DR LUCKY MISTRESS COUPLE THEADORA GREYSUN OF POWER ANIMAL SYSTEM SCARY BEN HEATHER WHATEVER TRICK THE BASTARD C AMANDA BOUTAHORSE PERSEPHONE POMME NOELLE REIGN BABY DEAD GIRL
with music by DJ MOMOTARO
The Love Story is an immersive, theatrical experience for all six of the senses - vision, sound, scent, taste, touch and thought. Ballroom dancing, intimate parlor performances and satirical pageantry invite lovers to come together in elaborate costumed dress to indulge in fantasies of the wild and whimsical variety.
The gala is hosted by The Author, a mysterious, commanding mistress who has conjured this gathering as an experiment, and will summon couples at random to her balcony chamber throughout the evening to write their part in The Love Story, a tale in the making.
Couples will be summoned at random for private encounters with the Author, to participate in a candid exchange of sensory information. What the Author does with this information is up to her. A word of warning: you may leave her chamber changed forever.
You might ask - do I have to participate?
The Love Story is ritualistic in nature. If you are uncomfortable with spontaneity, testing limits and exposing vulnerabilities, this may not be the masquerade for you. The Author asks that all invited guests oblige with her summons, should it come to meet them.
Formal costumed attire is mandatory and face covering is required - wear a proper mask or a face of paint, however you choose to represent your true self, or the self you aspire to be.
Upon arrival guests will be led by processional into the recesses of the Takk House to check their belongings including cell phones (the use of phones or cameras is strictly prohibited during the event), before filing into the grand ballroom for the mystery that awaits.
