Merrily We Roll Along: A Ten-Year Reunion & Benefit Concert
In March 2005, Morris Knolls High School staged Stephen Sondheim's "Merrily We Roll Along" as its spring musical. Even a decade later, the show is just as fondly remembered by its audience as by its cast.
Of that cast, 17 students were seniors during the 2004-5 school year -- meaning that, like the characters, they were at a collective crossroad in their lives during the rehearsal process. As the 10-year anniversary neared, some cast members expressed interest in revisiting the material.
Their efforts were buoyed by the 2014 Morris Knolls production of "Guys & Dolls," for which members of MK's 2003 cast were invited to watch the performance. That reunion spurred sentiment for a "Merrily" reboot.
Which brings us to December 21, 2014, when a dozen members of the 2005 cast will join with select alumni from other years for a one-night-only concert to benefit the Morris Knolls Theater Department.
