28TH ANNUAL INTERSPIRITUAL CELEBRATION OF GRATITUDE
This year our theme is to heal our hearts and protect the sacredness of our Waters and Lands.  We will pray for healing for everyone who has been affected by the tragedy at Marysville Pilchuck High School.  Cedar George, student of the school and member of the Tulalip Tribe, will be present to address the grief and to give thanks in gratitude for the outpouring of support from the community.

We will also pray for Mother Earth and affirm our call as people of faith to protect and restore her health.  The need for such compassionate action is growing in urgency every day as our increasingly pollution-based economy and the threats to the habitat are accelerating with the rush to increase the movement of fossil fuels through our region. We are fortunate to have the Native people of our region as allies to guide us with their thousands of years of experience living in harmony with the environment and their lens of spiritual wisdom. That includes Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr. and Sundance Chief Reuben George of the Tsleil-Waututh Coast Salish Nation, who are co-founders of the Nawtsamaat Alliance of Native Tribes and non-Native allies to Protect and Restore the Salish Sea. Nawtsamaat is a Coast Salish word meaning: "One house. One heart. One prayer. United in Power to Protect the Sacred."

Chief Phil Lane Jr. and Reuben George in an authentic indigenous ceremony honoring people of all tribes and spiritual  traditions.  This will include the special ritual of passing the sacred pipe of Crazy Horse honoring his prophecy foretelling the unity of Native and non-Native peoples.  As Chief Phil Lane says:  "We live not now in the day of prophecies, but in the day of the fulfillment of the prophecies!"

Following the program, during the reception, our indigenous friends will share stories that reflect the threat they perceive to our Land and extend an invitation to all religious and spiritual communities to come together in unprecedented unified action to safeguard our sacred lands and waterways.
