Twelfth Night
By William Shakespeare Adapted and Abridged by Andrew Biliter
A more contemporary adaptation of Twelfth Night but with some Shakespearean rhyme and meter preserved. Viola is shipwrecked and thinks her twin brother, Sebastian, is dead. Disguising herself as a young man (Cesario), she enters the service of Duke Orsino who thinks he is in love with Olivia. But because she is mourning she refuses to see any suitor for seven years. In the meantime, Viola has fallen in love with the Duke. Combine with a comic subplot, mistaken identities, love triangles and trickery, Twelfth Night is one of the first and best comedies in the world.
