Publishing Industry Crash Course with Howard Yoon
You've written the next great American novel. Now what? This class will cover the basics of the publishing game, and what you need to know as a writer interested in showing your work to a wider audience. With more than 21 years of experience in the business, Yoon will guide workshop participants through the process from finding the right agent, to pitching a book idea and negotiating a deal that's right for you.

Howard Yoon is a literary agent and partner at the Ross Yoon Agency. As an agent, he works closely with writers to help them find their writing voice and assists in developing and commercializing their book ideas. He negotiates book deals on their behalf with major publishers, consults with authors on their manuscripts, and advises clients on marketing and publicity plans for their book launch. He has more than 21 years of experience in publishing, speaks regularly on the publishing business, and has served as a ghostwriter and book editor. He also has served as a freelance writer of food and travel articles, most notably a food column for NPR.org. He collaborated with Robert Egger, the founder of DC Central Kitchen, on his book, Begging for Change (HarperCollins). Yoon is also an award-winning professor of narrative nonfiction writing for the Masters of Journalism program in the School of Continuing Studies at Georgetown University.

How to Write Like I Do is a new writing workshop series for adults, brought to you by the good people at 826DC. Looking for a way to kick-start your writing? Interested in continuing an old project that's fallen by the wayside? We hope to bring the same kind of enthralling and effective workshops to the older set as we've been known to deliver to the younger. All ticket proceeds go to supporting the free creative and expository writing programs for kids offered by 826DC.

Interested in attending all four workshops? Buy a season pass with us and enjoy two full months of writing workshops for creative folks. (http://826dcseasonpass.bpt.me)
