The Riverdale Ys Artistic Director of the successful jazz series, Ted Rosenthal invited Eugene
Marlows Heritage Jazz Band to perform familiar Hebraic melodies. The Heritage Ensemble is a contemporary world music quintet that records and performs Eugene Marlows original compositions and arrangements of Hebraic melodies in various jazz, Afro-Caribbean, Brazilian, and classical styles. Marlows jazz compositions include charts for big band in various genres, plus ballads, swing tunes, blues, and Latin-jazz flavored compositions for small ensembles. He has also arranged numerous Hebraic melodies in various jazz, Afro-Caribbean, Brazilian, and classical styles.
Marlow gives the Hebraic tunes some delightfully inventive arrangements that bring the melodies firmly into jazz, rather than simply adding some jazz touches to the traditional melodies.
