The SK Near East Ensemble, a 12 piece orchestra led by Souhail Kaspar, 2008 Grammy nominee, is presenting an evening of music from Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Yemen and North Africa. Included in this show are performances in the Egyptian dance style known as Raqs al-Sharqi (belly dance). Orchestral members play traditional instruments -oud, qanun, nay, Egyptian tablahs (doumbek, riqq, katem, dohola)as well as violins, cello, bass and accordion.
