Aunt Lakie's Not Coming to Dinner
Windy City Productions presents the premiere of playwright Susan Rabin's sharply crafted dramedy, "Aunt Lakie's Not Coming to Dinner," directed by Jim McCunn. Sisters Claire and Iris, two "women of a certain age," live by themselves in the family home in suburban Chicago. A family tragedy triggers a long overdue confrontation between the sisters, which is inflamed by an unusual mailman. Egged on by the mailman, the sisters exchange shocking family secrets that have been buried for decades. Rabin has created three compelling characters in a comedy that moves them into darker places. Rebellious and sarcastic Iris is played by Zoe Conner. Her sister an caretaker, Claire, is played Carolyn Compton. The young mysterious mailman is played by Scott Gessman. Performances run January 30 through February 14, Friday and Saturday nights at 8PM and Saturday matinees at 2PM at the Phoenix Theatre, 414 Mason St., San Francisco.
